🍰 Vanilla Pound Cake

Ingredients (for 1 loaf or 10–12 slices)

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan (or line with parchment paper).

2. Cream butter and sugar

  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.

3. Add eggs and vanilla

  • Beat in eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
  • Add vanilla extract and mix well.

4. Combine dry ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

5. Mix dry and wet ingredients

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk (start and end with flour).
  • Mix until just combined — don’t overmix.

6. Bake

  • Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Cool

  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

8. Serve

  • Slice and serve plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or topped with fresh berries and whipped cream.
