Posted on October 25, 2025 by Admin
Here’s a detailed recipe for Vanilla Custard Cream Squares, a creamy, indulgent dessert that’s easy to make and perfect for parties or family gatherings:

🍮 Ingredients (serves 8–10)

For the Crust:

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs (or digestive biscuits, crushed)

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tbsp sugar

For the Vanilla Custard:

  • 2 ½ cups milk

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • 3 tbsp cornstarch

  • 3 large egg yolks

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For the Whipped Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar.

  3. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking dish.

  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool completely.

2. Make the Vanilla Custard

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until just warm.

  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth.

  3. Gradually pour warm milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs.

  4. Return mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 5–7 minutes).

  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.

  6. Pour custard over the cooled crust and smooth the top. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.

3. Prepare the Whipped Topping

  1. In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.

  2. Spread whipped cream evenly over the set custard layer.

4. Serve

  • Cut into squares and serve chilled.

  • Optional: garnish with chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or a dusting of cinnamon.

💡 Tips

  • Custard consistency: Stir constantly while cooking to prevent lumps.

  • Make ahead: These squares can be made a day in advance—custard flavors improve after chilling.

  • Variation: Layer with crushed cookies or fruit for added texture.

  • Serving: Use a hot knife (dip in warm water) for clean slices.

Vanilla Custard Cream Squares are rich, creamy, and slightly sweet—a perfect dessert for special occasions or anytime you want a classic treat.

I can also provide a simpler no-bake version using instant vanilla pudding if you want a quicker dessert.
