Comforting and cozy—Sweet Potato Casserole 🍠
Here’s a classic version with a crunchy pecan topping, plus a marshmallow option if you prefer it sweeter.


Classic Sweet Potato Casserole

Ingredients

Sweet Potato Base

  • 3 lb sweet potatoes, peeled & cubed
  • ½ cup sugar (brown or white)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup milk or cream
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Pecan Topping

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil sweet potatoes until fork-tender; drain and mash well.
  3. Mix mashed potatoes with sugar, eggs, milk, butter, vanilla, spices, and salt.
  4. Spread mixture into a greased baking dish.
  5. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle evenly over the top.
  6. Bake 30–35 minutes, until set and golden.

Marshmallow Topping Option

  • Skip pecan topping.
  • Bake casserole 25 minutes, then add mini marshmallows.
  • Return to oven for 5–10 minutes until lightly browned.

Tips & Variations

  • 🍊 Add orange zest for brightness
  • 🥥 Use coconut milk for a twist
  • 🧈 Less sweet: reduce sugar by half
  • ❄️ Make ahead: assemble, refrigerate, bake next day
