Here’s a sweet and sour chicken that’s easy, family-friendly, and full of flavor 🍍🍗
(No deep-frying required—lighter but still delicious!)

🍗 Sweet and Sour Chicken

Ingredients (serves 4)

Chicken

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp oil

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks (fresh or canned, drained)

Sweet & Sour Sauce

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Cook chicken
    • Season chicken with salt and pepper.
    • Toss with cornstarch to lightly coat.
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Cook chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  2. Cook vegetables
    • In the same pan, sauté onion and bell pepper 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
  3. Make sauce
    • In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic powder.
  4. Combine
    • Add chicken and pineapple to the pan.
    • Pour sauce over everything and stir well.
    • Simmer 5–7 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  5. Serve
    • Serve hot over rice, noodles, or with steamed vegetables.

Tips

  • For extra crunch, bake or air-fry the chicken after coating.
  • Adjust sweetness by reducing sugar or adding more vinegar.
  • Add carrots or snap peas for more veggies.

If you want, I can also share:

  • a crispy restaurant-style version
  • a slow cooker sweet and sour chicken
  • or a low-sugar / low-carb version

Just tell me 😊
