Here’s a Smoked Sausage & Potato Bake that works for weeknights and potlucks.
Smoked Sausage & Potato Bake
Ingredients
- 1½–2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced (Yukon gold or red)
- 14 oz smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar (optional but great)
- ¾ cup heavy cream or milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Optional add-ins: bell peppers, broccoli, green beans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss potatoes with cream, butter, garlic, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Grease a baking dish and layer:
- half the potatoes
- sausage + onion
- remaining potatoes
- Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake 45 minutes.
- Uncover, sprinkle with cheese if using.
- Bake 15–20 minutes more until potatoes are tender and top is golden.
One-Pan Skillet Version
- Parboil potatoes 5–7 minutes.
- Brown sausage in a large skillet.
- Add potatoes, onion, seasoning, and a splash of cream.
- Cover and cook 15 minutes, uncover to crisp.
Flavor Twists
- Cajun: use andouille + Cajun seasoning
- German-style: kielbasa + mustard drizzle + caraway
- Cheesy ranch: add ranch seasoning + extra cheddar
- Spicy: red pepper flakes or hot honey drizzle
