🥩 Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak
Ingredients
Patties
- 1½ lbs ground beef
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon or yellow mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper
Gravy
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Mix patties ingredients gently and shape into oval patties.
- Brown patties in a skillet (2–3 min per side). This step = better flavor.
- Layer onions and mushrooms in the slow cooker.
- Place patties on top. Pour in beef broth and sprinkle onion soup mix over.
- Cook on LOW 6–7 hours or HIGH 3–4 hours.
- Stir cornstarch slurry into the gravy, cover, and cook 20–30 minutes until thickened.
🍽️ Serve with
- Mashed potatoes (non-negotiable)
- Egg noodles or rice
- Green beans or peas on the side
🔥 Pro tips
- Don’t overmix the beef—keeps patties tender
- If gravy’s too thick, thin with a splash of broth
- Leftovers are even better the next day
