Here’s a simple, foolproof Slow Cooker Bread recipe—you get a soft, golden loaf without turning on the oven.


🍞 Slow Cooker Bread

Makes 1 medium loaf


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1–2 tsp sugar or honey (for a slightly sweeter loaf)

That’s the minimal base; with 5 ingredients, you can add butter/oil or herbs, but it works with just 3 main ones: flour, water, yeast.


Instructions

1. Make the dough

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, and salt (and sugar if using).
  2. Gradually add warm water and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead lightly for 5–7 minutes (or just fold a few times if you want minimal effort).

2. Let it rise

  1. Cover the bowl with a clean towel or plastic wrap.
  2. Let dough rise 1–2 hours until doubled in size.

3. Shape & cook

  1. Grease the slow cooker insert.
  2. Shape dough into a round or oval loaf and place inside.
  3. Optional: lightly flour the top.
  4. Cover with the lid (optional: wrap lid in a towel to absorb condensation).

4. Slow cook

  • Cook on LOW for 2–3 hours, until the bread is set and firm on top.
  • Optional: For a golden top, place under a broiler for 2–3 minutes after cooking.

5. Cool

  • Carefully remove bread and let cool on a rack before slicing.
  • It will be softer than oven-baked bread but deliciously tender.

Tips

  • Avoid opening the lid during cooking; it can make the loaf collapse.
  • Experiment with adding herbs, garlic, or cheese for flavor.
  • You can also try a no-knead version: just mix, let rise, and slow cook—super hands-off.
