Slow cooker beer bread

Ohhh this one is cozy and EASY 🍞🍺 — no yeast, no kneading, just dump-and-go goodness.


Slow Cooker Beer Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
    (or see swap below)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (12 oz) beer (lager, ale, or light beer — room temp)
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Jalapeños or herbs

Instructions

  1. Prep Slow Cooker
    • Line slow cooker with parchment paper or grease very well.
  2. Mix Dough
    • In a bowl, stir self-rising flour and sugar.
    • Pour in beer and mix just until combined (don’t overmix).
  3. Cook
    • Pour batter into slow cooker.
    • Drizzle melted butter over the top.
    • Cover and cook on:
      • HIGH: 2–2½ hours
      • LOW: 3–4 hours
    • Bread is done when a toothpick comes out clean and top is firm.
  4. Optional Crisp Top
    • For a golden crust, transfer bread to oven broiler 2–3 minutes after cooking.
  5. Cool & Serve
    • Let rest 10 minutes, then slice.

🧠 Flour Swap (If You Don’t Have Self-Rising)

Use:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Light beer = mild flavor
  • Ale = richer, breadier taste
  • Dark beer = deeper, slightly bitter (great with cheese)
