Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji work well)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tbsp water (to prevent sticking)

Optional Add-ins:

  • 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples:
    Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  2. Layer in the Slow Cooker:
    Place apples in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and add the butter on top. If desired, mix in raisins or nuts.
  3. Add Liquid:
    Pour 1–2 tablespoons of water into the bottom to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook:
    Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until apples are tender but not mushy. Stir gently halfway through cooking.
  5. Finish:
    Stir in vanilla extract just before serving.

Serving Ideas

  • Serve warm over vanilla ice cream or pancakes.
  • Use as a topping for oatmeal, yogurt, or French toast.
  • Blend into a smooth applesauce for babies or as a side dish.
