Shrimp and cod in creamy garlic sauce

Posted on December 3, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a rich, comforting Shrimp and Cod in Creamy Garlic Sauce — tender seafood simmered in a silky garlic-parmesan cream. This works beautifully over rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, or with crusty bread.

🍤 Shrimp & Cod in Creamy Garlic Sauce

Ingredients (serves 4)

Seafood

  • 1 lb cod fillets, cut into large chunks
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

Creamy garlic sauce

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4–5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion or 2 shallots, finely diced
  • ½ cup dry white wine (optional — can sub broth)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup chicken or seafood broth
  • ½ cup grated parmesan
  • 1 tsp Old Bay or paprika
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped

Instructions

1. Season & sear the seafood

  1. Pat shrimp and cod dry; season lightly with salt & pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high.
  3. Sear cod pieces 1–2 minutes per side (don’t fully cook). Remove.
  4. Sear shrimp just until pink on the outside, about 1 minute per side. Remove.

(Seafood will finish cooking in the sauce.)

2. Make the creamy garlic sauce

  1. Lower heat to medium and melt butter in the same pan.
  2. Add onion/shallots and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in white wine and simmer 2–3 minutes to reduce.
  5. Add cream + broth, stir well.
  6. Add parmesan, Old Bay/paprika, Italian seasoning, and pepper.
  7. Simmer on low 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.

3. Add seafood back

  1. Gently add shrimp and cod into the sauce.
  2. Simmer on low 4–6 minutes, just until cod flakes easily and shrimp is cooked through.
  3. Taste and adjust salt, pepper, or lemon if needed.

4. Serve

Top with fresh parsley or basil.
Serve over:

  • Rice
  • Buttered linguine
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Crusty bread
  • Steamed broccoli or asparagus

⭐ Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 cup spinach (add at end)
  • Sun-dried tomatoes
  • Mushrooms sautéed with onions
  • Extra lemon zest for brightness
