Ricotta Grilled Cheese

Here’s a creamy, cheesy twist on the classic grilled cheese — Ricotta Grilled Cheese is rich, flavorful, and surprisingly easy to make.


🥪 Ricotta Grilled Cheese Recipe

Serves: 1–2
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5–7 minutes


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of your favorite bread (sourdough or Italian works great)

  • ¼–½ cup ricotta cheese

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella, cheddar, or fontina

  • 1 tsp olive oil or butter (for spreading)

  • Optional extras: sliced tomatoes, fresh basil, arugula, or a drizzle of honey


Instructions

  1. Prep the Bread:

    • Spread butter or olive oil lightly on one side of each bread slice.

  2. Add the Cheese:

    • Spread a generous layer of ricotta on the unbuttered side of one slice.

    • Top with shredded cheese. Add optional extras if desired (tomato slices, herbs, or a light drizzle of honey).

  3. Assemble the Sandwich:

    • Place the other slice of bread on top, buttered side out.

  4. Cook:

    • Heat a skillet over medium heat.

    • Place sandwich in skillet and cook 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted.

    • Press gently with a spatula to help the cheese melt evenly.

  5. Serve:

    • Slice in half and enjoy hot.

  • Add a pinch of garlic powder or Italian seasoning to the ricotta for extra flavor.

  • For a sweeter version, add fig jam or roasted red peppers.

  • Use a panini press for a crispier, evenly pressed sandwich.
