Pork Chop Supreme

Here’s a classic, creamy, old-school Pork Chop Supreme recipe—tender pork chops baked in a rich sour-cream mushroom sauce with onions and sometimes potatoes. Pure comfort food!


Pork Chop Supreme

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 4–6 bone-in or boneless pork chops (¾–1 inch thick)
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1–2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup milk (or chicken broth for deeper flavor)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Optional: 1 packet onion soup mix for extra flavor
  • Optional: 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (if you want it “one-pan casserole style”)

Instructions

1. Prep the pork chops

  1. Season both sides of the pork chops with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  2. Heat a skillet with oil and sear chops for 2–3 minutes per side (just to add flavor—not to cook through).
  3. Transfer to a baking dish.

2. Prepare the sauce

In a bowl, mix together:

  • Cream of mushroom soup
  • Sour cream
  • Milk or broth
  • Garlic powder
  • Optional onion soup mix

Stir until smooth.


3. Build the casserole (optional potato version)

If using potatoes:

  • Layer sliced potatoes on the bottom of a greased 9×13 baking dish.
  • Season lightly with salt & pepper.
  • Place seared pork chops on top.
  • Scatter sliced onions over the pork chops.

If NOT using potatoes:

  • Just place pork chops in baking dish and top with onions.

4. Pour sauce and bake

  1. Pour the mushroom-sour cream sauce evenly over everything.
  2. Cover with foil.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C):
    • With potatoes: 1 hour 15 minutes – 1 hour 30 minutes
    • Without potatoes: 50–60 minutes
  4. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes to let the top brown slightly.

Pork chops should be tender and the sauce creamy and bubbling.


5. Serve

Great with:

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Rice
  • Egg noodles
  • Green beans or peas
  • A roll to mop up the sauce

Tips & Variations

Cheesy Version

Stir 1 cup shredded cheddar into the sauce or sprinkle on top before the last 10 minutes of baking.

Mushroom Lover’s Version

Add 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms when you add the onions.

Slow Cooker Method

  • Layer potatoes (if using), then pork chops, onions, and sauce.
  • Cook on low 6–7 hours or high 3–4 hours.
