Classic choice 😌🍽️ — here’s a juicy, old-fashioned meatloaf with a tangy glaze that never fails.


Classic Meatloaf

Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 1½ lbs ground beef (80/20 works best)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard (optional but classic)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet.
  2. Make the Meatloaf
    • In a large bowl, whisk milk and egg.
    • Add breadcrumbs and let soak 1 minute.
    • Gently mix in ground beef, onion, garlic, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
    • Do not overmix.
  3. Shape & Top
    • Shape into a loaf or place into a loaf pan.
    • Mix glaze ingredients and spread half over the top.
  4. Bake
    • Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
    • Remove, spread remaining glaze, return to oven.
    • Bake another 15–20 minutes until internal temp reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. Rest & Serve
    Let rest 10 minutes before slicing (keeps it juicy).

Tips for the Juiciest Meatloaf

  • Grated onion > chopped (adds moisture)
  • Milk + breadcrumbs = tender texture
  • Resting time is non-negotiable 😉
