Here’s a simple, classic lasagna recipe that’s easy and delicious!

🍽️ Classic Homemade Lasagna

Ingredients

For the meat sauce

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or beef + Italian sausage mix)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz / ~680 g) marinara sauce or 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the cheese layer

  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1–2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • Optional: chopped parsley or basil

Other

  • 9–12 lasagna noodles (regular or no-boil)
  • Extra mozzarella for topping

Instructions

1. Make the meat sauce

  1. In a large pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer 10–15 minutes.

2. Make the cheese mixture

In a bowl, combine:

  • Ricotta
  • Egg
  • Parmesan
  • A handful of mozzarella
  • Optional herbs
    Mix until smooth.

3. Cook the noodles (if not using no-boil)

Boil according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

4. Assemble

In a baking dish:

  1. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom.
  2. Add a layer of noodles.
  3. Spread ricotta mixture.
  4. Add more sauce.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella.
  6. Repeat 2–3 times.
Finish with a generous layer of mozzarella on top.

5. Bake

  • Cover with foil (to prevent burning).
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

6. Rest & Serve

Let rest 10–15 minutes before cutting—this keeps the layers neat.
