Honey garlic spare ribs

Posted on November 16, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a sticky, tender, fall-off-the-bone Honey Garlic Spare Ribs recipe — sweet, savory, and caramelized to perfection. You can make them baked, slow-cooked, or air-fried.

🍯🧄 Honey Garlic Spare Ribs

Ingredients (serves 3–4)

  • 2–3 lbs pork spare ribs
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp paprika or garlic powder for seasoning

For the honey garlic sauce:

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3–4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup (for thickness + color)
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)

🧑‍🍳 Baked Method (Best Flavor)

1. Prep the ribs

  • Pat ribs dry.
  • Season lightly with salt, pepper, and optional paprika.
  • Place ribs on a foil-lined baking tray, meat side up.
  • Cover tightly with foil.

2. Slow bake

  • Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 2–2½ hours until very tender.

3. Make the sauce

While ribs bake, whisk together:
honey + soy sauce + garlic + brown sugar + vinegar + ketchup + chili flakes.
Simmer in a small pot 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.

4. Glaze & finish

  • Remove foil from ribs.
  • Brush generously with honey garlic sauce.
  • Increase oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Bake 10–15 minutes until caramelized and sticky.
  • Brush with extra sauce before serving.

⭐ Optional Finishing Touches

  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds
  • Add chopped green onions
  • Serve with rice, noodles, or roasted potatoes

🔄 Variations

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Ribs

  1. Season ribs and cut into sections.
  2. Place in slow cooker with ½ cup water.
  3. Cook 6–7 hours on low or 3–4 hours on high.
  4. Drain liquid, pour honey garlic sauce over ribs, and cook 15–20 minutes more.
  5. Optional: broil 5 minutes to caramelize.

Air Fryer Method

  • Pre-cook ribs 20 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  • Brush with sauce.
  • Air fry another 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until sticky and browned.

Extra-Sticky Version

Simmer the sauce longer until thick like syrup, then brush on multiple layers.

Want a spicy version, a no-sugar version, or Asian-style (ginger + sesame) ribs? I can tailor it!
