Honey garlic ribs

Posted on December 6, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a delicious recipe for Honey Garlic Ribs—sticky, sweet, and packed with flavor. You can make them in the oven or on the grill.

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 2–3 lbs pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Marinade/Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (optional, for thickness)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced or grated
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional, for a little heat)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ribs:

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) or prepare a medium-low grill.
  2. Remove the silver skin/membrane from the back of the ribs (for tender results).
  3. Season ribs with salt and pepper.

2. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, vinegar, ginger, and chili flakes.

3. Cook the Ribs (Oven Method):

  1. Place ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil.
  2. Brush generously with half the honey garlic sauce.
  3. Cover with foil and bake 2–2.5 hours until tender.
  4. Remove foil, brush with remaining sauce, and bake an additional 20–30 minutes at 375°F (190°C) until caramelized.

4. Cook the Ribs (Grill Method):

  1. Pre-cook ribs in foil on a low grill or in the oven for 1.5–2 hours until tender.
  2. Brush with sauce and grill over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, turning and basting often until sticky and caramelized.

5. Serve:

  • Slice between bones and drizzle with any remaining sauce.
  • Pair with coleslaw, rice, or roasted vegetables.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra sticky ribs, brush a few extra times with sauce during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
  • Leftover ribs reheat well and are even more flavorful the next day.
  • If you like a smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke or grill over charcoal.

I can also give a quick 45-minute honey garlic ribs recipe that’s tender and caramelized without the long bake if you want a faster version. Do you want that?
