🍕 Homemade Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza

⭐ Ingredients (Makes 2 medium 12-inch pizzas)

For the dough

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the sauce

  • 1 cup canned tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, balances acidity)

For the toppings

  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 20–25 slices pepperoni
  • Optional: sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, or olives

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the dough

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture + olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.

2. Prepare the sauce

  • In a bowl, combine tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  • Set aside.

3. Preheat oven

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C).
  • If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.

4. Assemble the pizza

  1. Punch down dough and divide into 2 balls.
  2. Roll or stretch each dough ball into a 12-inch circle.
  3. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or preheated pizza stone.
  4. Spread sauce evenly over the dough.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, then top with cooked sausage and pepperoni.
  6. Finish with Parmesan and any additional toppings.

5. Bake

  • Bake 12–15 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve

  • Let cool 2–3 minutes, slice, and enjoy.
  • Optional: drizzle with olive oil or sprinkle with red pepper flakes.

⭐ Tips & Variations

  • Extra crispy crust: Pre-bake dough 3–4 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Spicy sausage pizza: Use hot Italian sausage and add crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Cheese blend: Use mozzarella + provolone + fontina for a richer flavor.
  • Make-ahead dough: Refrigerate dough up to 3 days for convenience.
  • Gluten-free: Use a store-bought gluten-free dough or mix.
