Classic, cozy, and always a win 🥞💛 Here’s an easy Homemade French Toast that’s golden on the outside and soft on the inside.


Homemade French Toast

Ingredients (serves 2–3)

  • 4–6 slices bread (thick-cut works best: brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk or half-and-half
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Make the custard
    In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Dip the bread
    Dip each slice quickly—don’t soak too long or it’ll get soggy.
  3. Cook
    Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add butter.
    Cook bread 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  4. Serve hot
    Top with syrup, powdered sugar, berries, or butter.

  • Slightly stale bread = perfect French toast.
  • For extra richness, swap milk for half-and-half or heavy cream.
  • Keep heat medium—too hot and the outside burns before the inside cooks.
