Easy Homemade Bread (Beginner-Friendly)
Ingredients
- 3½ cups (420 g) all-purpose or bread flour
- 1¼ cups (300 ml) warm water (not hot)
- 2 tsp instant or active dry yeast
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar or honey
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
How to Make It
- Activate yeast
Mix warm water + sugar + yeast. Let sit 5–10 min until foamy
(Skip this step if using instant yeast—just mix dry ingredients). - Mix dough
Add flour, salt, and oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms. - Knead
Knead 8–10 min by hand (or 5–6 min mixer) until smooth and elastic. - First rise
Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled. - Shape
Punch down, shape into a loaf or round. - Second rise
Rest 30–45 min until puffy. - Bake
- Oven: 220°C / 425°F
- Bake 25–30 min until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Cool
Let cool at least 20 min (hardest part 😅).
