🥐 Golden Baked Chicken & Cheese Croissants
Ingredients
- 4 large croissants (bakery or refrigerated)
- 1½–2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
(rotisserie = clutch) - 1–1½ cups cheese (Swiss, mozzarella, cheddar, or Gruyère)
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk or cream
- Salt & pepper
Optional upgrades
- Garlic powder or onion powder
- Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme)
- Honey drizzle or hot sauce
Instructions
- Prep
Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet. - Slice croissants
Cut in half horizontally (don’t cut all the way through if you want them extra sturdy). - Fill
Spread mayo or Dijon inside (if using).
Layer chicken + cheese. Season lightly. - Egg wash
Whisk egg + milk. Brush tops generously for that golden shine. - Butter boost
Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle herbs or garlic powder if you like. - Bake
Bake 15–18 minutes, until cheese is melty and tops are deep golden.
Broil 1–2 minutes if you want extra color (watch closely!).
Flavor twists
- Chicken Alfredo: add a spoon of Alfredo sauce inside
- Buffalo chicken: toss chicken with buffalo sauce + blue cheese
- Ham swap: replace chicken with ham for a croque-style vibe
- Breakfast version: add scrambled eggs 👀
Pro tips
- Cover loosely with foil if browning too fast.
- Let rest 2–3 minutes so the cheese doesn’t lava-slide out.
- Best eaten warm, but reheats well in the oven (not microwave).
