Glazed carrots

Here’s a simple and delicious way to make glazed carrots, a classic side dish that’s sweet, buttery, and tender.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots, peeled and cut into sticks or rounds

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey/maple syrup)

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)

  • 1/4 cup water or orange juice

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Prepare the carrots:
    Peel and slice the carrots into uniform pieces so they cook evenly.

  2. Cook the carrots:
    In a medium skillet, combine the carrots, butter, brown sugar, salt, and water (or juice).

  3. Simmer:
    Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 8–10 minutes, until the carrots are tender but still slightly firm.

  4. Glaze:
    Remove the lid and increase heat to medium-high. Let the liquid reduce while stirring occasionally, so the carrots become shiny and coated in a thick glaze (about 2–3 minutes).

  5. Serve:
    Sprinkle with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
