Here’s a simple and delicious guide for Fried Shrimp — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside! 🍤✨

Crispy Fried Shrimp

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 5–8 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup cornstarch (optional, for extra crisp)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)

  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prepare shrimp:
Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. This helps the coating stick better.

  2. Set up dredging stations:

    • Bowl 1: Flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika

    • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs

    • Bowl 3: Panko breadcrumbs

  3. Coat shrimp:

    • Dredge shrimp in flour mixture → dip in eggs → coat with breadcrumbs.

  4. Heat oil:

    • Heat 1–2 inches of oil in a skillet or deep pan to 350°F (175°C).

  5. Fry shrimp:

    • Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.

    • Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve hot with lemon wedges, cocktail sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips & Variations:

  • 🧄 Flavor boost: Add garlic powder, cayenne, or Old Bay seasoning to the flour mixture.

  • 🌾 Healthier option: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.

  • 🥢 Asian twist: Dip in tempura batter instead of breadcrumbs for a lighter crunch.

  • 🥗 Serve ideas: With fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

I can also give a quick but ultra-crispy fried shrimp recipe using buttermilk — it makes the coating stick better and stay crunchy longer. Do you want that version?
