🍚 Fried Rice with Chicken, Steak, and Shrimp

Serves: 4–6
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

For the Fried Rice:

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old rice for best texture)
  • 1 boneless, skinless chicken breast or thigh, diced
  • 1/2 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas and carrots (or mixed veggies of your choice)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for extra umami)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for flavor)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Proteins:

  • Chicken: Season diced chicken with salt and pepper.
  • Steak: Season steak slices with salt and pepper.
  • Shrimp: Season shrimp with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Set aside.

2. Cook the Proteins:

  • Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the chicken until browned and cooked through (about 4-5 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  • Add a bit more oil if needed, then cook the steak for 2-3 minutes until browned but still tender. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, cook the shrimp for about 2 minutes per side until pink and cooked through. Remove and set aside with the chicken and steak.

3. Make the Fried Rice:

  • In the same pan, add the remaining 1 tbsp oil and heat over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and sautĂ© for 2–3 minutes until soft. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the peas and carrots (or any other veggies you’re using), and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
  • Push the veggies to the side of the pan, and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Scramble until fully cooked, then mix with the veggies.

4. Combine Everything:

  • Add the cooked rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps.
  • Return the chicken, steak, and shrimp to the pan.
  • Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a drizzle of sesame oil (if using). Stir everything to combine and heat through, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or more soy sauce as needed.

5. Serve:

  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot. Enjoy as a main dish or with a side of stir-fried veggies.

Tips & Variations:

  • Day-old rice is best: Fresh rice can be too sticky. If you’re using fresh rice, spread it on a baking sheet and let it cool before frying.
  • Add more veggies: You can include bell peppers, mushrooms, or bok choy for added texture and flavor.
  • Make it spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of chili sauce (like sriracha) for a spicy kick.
  • Vegetarian option: Skip the meat and shrimp, and load up with extra veggies, tofu, or tempeh.
  • For extra flavor: Add a bit of ginger along with the garlic, or use garlic chili sauce in place of oyster sauce for a more vibrant taste.

This Fried Rice with Chicken, Steak, and Shrimp is savory, satisfying, and packed with all the right flavors. Perfect for when you want a complete meal in one pan!
