Fried halloumi cheese

Posted on November 8, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple, delicious way to make fried halloumi cheese—crispy on the outside, soft and salty on the inside. Perfect as a snack, salad topping, or part of a mezze platter.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225g) halloumi cheese
  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • Optional: black pepper, lemon wedges, herbs for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the halloumi:
    • Slice the halloumi into ½-inch thick slices.
    • Pat slices dry with a paper towel—this helps them crisp up.
  2. Heat the pan:
    • Place a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add olive oil and let it heat until shimmering.
  3. Fry the halloumi:
    • Add the slices to the pan in a single layer.
    • Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
    • Avoid moving them too much—let them sear properly.
  4. Serve immediately:
    • Sprinkle with black pepper, drizzle with lemon juice, or add fresh herbs like parsley or mint.

Serving Ideas

  • On a salad with arugula, cherry tomatoes, and olives.
  • As part of a mezze platter with hummus, olives, and pita.
  • On top of grilled vegetables or roasted tomatoes.

If you want, I can also give a recipe for crispy halloumi fries that are perfect for dipping—they turn out golden, crunchy, and irresistible. Do you want me to do that?
