For the Coating

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder (optional, for crispiness)
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper or chili powder (optional)

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil (enough to deep-fry; about 2–3 inches deep in your pot or skillet)
