Here’s a crispy, juicy fried chicken recipe you can make at home—great for a classic or slightly spicy desi-style version:


🍗 Ingredients

  • 500g chicken (pieces with bone or boneless)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp cornflour (for extra crispiness)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (or fresh garlic paste)
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)
  • Oil (for deep frying)

🍳 Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken
    In a bowl, mix chicken with salt, pepper, garlic, chili powder, and milk/buttermilk. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes (longer = better flavor).
  2. Prepare coating
    In another bowl, mix flour, cornflour, and a little salt and pepper.
  3. Dip and coat
    Beat the egg separately. Dip each chicken piece in egg, then coat well in the flour mixture. Press the coating so it sticks nicely.
  4. Heat the oil
    Heat oil on medium heat (not too hot, or outside burns before inside cooks).
  5. Fry the chicken
    Fry pieces for about 8–12 minutes (depending on size), turning occasionally until golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Drain and rest
    Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  • Double-coat (flour → egg → flour) for extra crunch
  • Let coated chicken rest 5–10 minutes before frying
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—it lowers oil temperature
  • Add a pinch of baking powder to flour for even crispier crust

  • Add garam masala, cumin powder, and a squeeze of lemon to the marinade
  • Sprinkle chaat masala on top after frying
