- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 6 tbsp Coca-Cola
- 3½–4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Make the Cake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda.
- In a saucepan, melt butter. Stir in cocoa powder and Coca-Cola. Bring just to a boil, then remove from heat.
- Pour hot mixture over dry ingredients and stir until smooth.
- Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Make the Frosting
- About 5 minutes before cake is done, melt butter in a saucepan.
- Stir in cocoa powder and Coca-Cola; bring to a gentle boil.
- Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
Finish
- Pour warm frosting over the hot cake.
