Dorito taco salad

Posted on November 11, 2025 by Admin

Ah, Dorito Taco Salad — a fun, crunchy, and fully loaded Tex-Mex-style salad! 🌮🥗 The Doritos add a cheesy, crispy kick, while seasoned ground beef, fresh veggies, and creamy dressing make it a meal in itself.

🌮 Dorito Taco Salad

🧺 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

Salad:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade: chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt)
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • ½ cup diced red onion (optional)
  • 1 cup Doritos (Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch work great)

Dressing:

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup salsa
  • Optional: 1–2 tablespoons ranch dressing for extra creaminess

🔪 Instructions

1. Cook the beef

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
  • Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in taco seasoning with ¼ cup water (or per package directions). Simmer 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  • Set aside to cool slightly.

2. Prep the salad base

  • In a large bowl, combine chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, onions, olives, and shredded cheese.

3. Make the dressing

  • In a small bowl, mix sour cream and salsa until smooth.
  • Add ranch if desired.

4. Assemble the salad

  • Top the lettuce mixture with cooked taco beef.
  • Add Doritos on top just before serving to keep them crunchy.
  • Drizzle with dressing and toss lightly, or serve dressing on the side.

🌟 Tips & Variations

  • Extra veggies: Add corn, bell peppers, or avocado.
  • Spicy version: Add jalapeños or hot sauce to the dressing.
  • Protein swap: Use grilled chicken, shredded rotisserie chicken, or ground turkey instead of beef.
  • Make ahead: Keep Doritos separate until serving to prevent sogginess.

If you want, I can also give you a layered Dorito taco salad casserole version — it’s like this salad but baked, cheesy, and perfect for feeding a crowd!

Do you want me to do that?
