Posted on November 14, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Crockpot Barbecue Ribs—tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs cooked low and slow with a rich barbecue flavor.

🍖 Crockpot Barbecue Ribs

Serves: 4–6
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6–8 hours (low) or 3–4 hours (high)

Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup water or apple juice (for moisture in the crockpot)
  • Optional: honey, brown sugar, or hot sauce for extra flavor

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ribs:

  • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs for more tender results.
  • Season both sides of the ribs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.

2. Add to Crockpot:

  • Pour water or apple juice into the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Place the ribs in the crockpot. If needed, cut the rack in half to fit.
  • Spoon barbecue sauce over the ribs, coating them well.

3. Cook:

  • Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the ribs are tender and can be pulled apart easily.

4. Optional Broil for Caramelization:

  • Preheat your oven broiler.
  • Transfer the ribs to a baking sheet lined with foil.
  • Brush with additional barbecue sauce and broil for 3–5 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and slightly caramelized. Watch closely to prevent burning.

5. Serve:

  • Slice the ribs between the bones.
  • Serve hot with extra barbecue sauce on the side, coleslaw, corn on the cob, or baked beans.

Tips & Variations:

  • Smokier flavor: Add 1 tsp liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce.
  • Sweet & spicy: Mix 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar into the sauce, and a dash of cayenne for heat.
  • Crockpot layering: Place onions or sliced bell peppers at the bottom for added flavor and aroma.
  • Leftovers: Ribs reheat well in the oven or air fryer, keeping them tender and saucy.

These Crockpot Barbecue Ribs are melt-in-your-mouth tender and full of rich, smoky-sweet flavor with minimal effort. Perfect for a lazy weekend dinner or game day!

If you want, I can also give a honey-garlic variation that’s sticky, sweet, and slightly tangy—it’s a crowd favorite. Do you want me to do that?
