Cinnamon roll

Posted on March 19, 2026 by Admin

A cinnamon roll 🍥 is a sweet, soft pastry spiraled with cinnamon sugar and often topped with icing or glaze—a classic breakfast or dessert treat.

🌟 What is a Cinnamon Roll?

  • Made from yeast-leavened dough, rolled out, spread with a cinnamon-sugar-butter filling, then rolled into spirals.
  • Baked until golden brown and finished with cream cheese or sugar glaze.
  • Popular worldwide, often served warm.

🥐 Basic Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 packet yeast (≈2 ¼ tsp)
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk, warm
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp salt

For the filling:

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp butter, softened

For the icing:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Make the dough – combine yeast, warm milk, sugar, egg, butter, and flour; knead until smooth; let rise 1–2 hours.
  2. Prepare filling – mix brown sugar and cinnamon; soften butter for spreading.
  3. Roll & fill – roll dough into a rectangle, spread butter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly.
  4. Shape rolls – roll dough tightly into a log; cut into 1–2 inch slices.
  5. Second rise – place rolls in greased baking dish; let rise 30–45 minutes.
  6. Bake – 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  7. Glaze – mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla; drizzle over warm rolls.

🔥 Tips

  • For extra gooey rolls, add cream cheese icing.
  • Don’t overfill; butter and sugar may leak out.
  • Warm rolls are best served fresh from the oven.

🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • With coffee or hot chocolate
  • As a brunch centerpiece
  • With nuts or raisins added to filling for variety
