Chocolate Glazed Donuts

🧈 Ingredients

Donuts

  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2½–3 cups all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying

Chocolate Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

🍩 Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, butter, egg, and salt.
  3. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled.

2. Shape

  1. Roll dough to ½-inch thickness.
  2. Cut with a donut cutter (or two round cutters).
  3. Place on parchment, cover lightly, and rise 30–45 minutes.

3. Fry

  1. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry donuts 30–45 seconds per side, until golden.
  3. Drain on paper towels.

4. Chocolate Glaze

  1. Whisk all glaze ingredients until smooth and glossy.
  2. Dip warm donuts into glaze.
  3. Place on a rack to set.

✨ Tips for Perfect Donuts

  • Don’t overcrowd the fryer—temperature drops quickly
  • Glaze while donuts are slightly warm for best coating
  • Add sprinkles, chopped nuts, or coconut before glaze sets
