Love a good slow-cooker moment 😌 Here’s a juicy, tender slow-cooker chicken breast recipe you can use as a base for tons of meals.


Basic Slow Cooker Chicken Breasts

Ingredients

  • 2–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • ½ cup chicken broth (or water)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken
    Rub chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  2. Add to slow cooker
    Place chicken in the slow cooker. Pour broth around (not over) the chicken. Add olive oil or butter on top.
  3. Cook
    • LOW: 3–4 hours (best for juicy chicken)
    • HIGH: 1½–2½ hours

    Chicken is done when it reaches 165°F (74°C) and shreds easily.

  4. Rest & serve
    Let rest 5 minutes, then slice, shred, or serve whole.

Easy Flavor Variations

🔥 Creamy Ranch

  • Add 1 packet ranch seasoning + ½ cup cream cheese

🍋 Lemon Garlic

  • Add 2 tbsp lemon juice, 3 cloves garlic, and Italian seasoning

🌮 Taco Chicken

  • Add 1 packet taco seasoning + ½ cup salsa

🧄 Garlic Parmesan

  • Add ½ cup grated Parmesan + ¼ cup heavy cream at the end

🍗 BBQ Chicken

  • Add ½–1 cup BBQ sauce (skip the broth)

  • Don’t overcook—chicken breasts dry out fast even in a slow cooker.
  • If your chicken releases a lot of liquid, drain before shredding.
