Here’s a versatile and delicious Cheesy Italian Sausage recipe — perfect as a main dish, pasta topper, or appetizer! 🌭🧀🍅

🧀 Cheesy Italian Sausage Bake

Servings: 4–6

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 25–30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, links or bulk)

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

  • 1 cup marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 bell pepper, diced (optional)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Optional: fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook sausage:

    • If using links, remove casing and crumble, or cook whole and slice after baking.

    • In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage, onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until sausage is browned and veggies are softened.

  3. Assemble:

    • Spread marinara sauce in a lightly greased baking dish.

    • Add cooked sausage mixture evenly on top.

    • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sausage.

  4. Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.

  5. Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Variations & Tips:

  • 🌶️ Spicy kick: Use hot Italian sausage or add red pepper flakes.

  • 🍝 Pasta bake: Mix with cooked penne or rigatoni before topping with cheese.

  • 🥬 Veggie boost: Add mushrooms, zucchini, or spinach to the sausage mixture.

  • 🧄 Extra flavor: Stir in 1 tsp garlic powder or smoked paprika for depth.

  • 🧀 Cheese mix: Blend mozzarella, fontina, and provolone for a melty, rich topping.
