Cheese-Filled Baked Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup milk (or buttermilk for extra flavor)
  • 1–1½ cups cheese, cubed or shredded
    • Cheddar, mozzarella, Colby-Jack, or a mix work great
  • Optional: garlic powder, herbs, or black pepper

Optional Topping

  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • ½ tsp garlic powder or parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Make biscuit dough
    • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Cut in cold butter until mixture looks crumbly.
    • Stir in milk just until dough comes together. Don’t overmix.
  3. Add cheese
    • Gently fold in cheese, or for stuffed centers, flatten dough pieces and place cheese cubes inside before sealing.
  4. Shape biscuits
    • Pat dough out about 1-inch thick.
    • Cut into rounds or shape by hand. Place on baking sheet.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Finish
    • Brush tops with melted butter and optional garlic or herbs.

  • 🧄 Add minced garlic or garlic powder for cheesy garlic biscuits
  • 🌶️ Mix in jalapeños for a spicy kick
  • 🥓 Add cooked bacon bits to the dough
  • 🧀 Use cheese cubes instead of shredded for extra gooey centers
