🦐 Ingredients

For the shrimp:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

For the pasta:

  • 8 oz (225 g) fettuccine or linguine

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream

  • ½ cup (120 ml) chicken broth (or pasta water)

  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1–2 tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  • Lemon wedges (optional)

🔥 Homemade Cajun Seasoning (optional)

Mix together:

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (more for heat)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta:
Boil pasta in salted water according to package directions. Drain, reserving about ½ cup of pasta water. Set aside.

  2. Cook the shrimp:

    • Toss shrimp with 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning.

    • Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Add shrimp and cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.

    • Remove and set aside.

  3. Make the sauce:

    • In the same skillet, add butter and olive oil.

    • Sauté onion and bell pepper for 3–4 minutes until softened.

    • Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

    • Stir in heavy cream, chicken broth, and Cajun seasoning. Bring to a simmer.

    • Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and smooth.

    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Combine:

    • Add cooked pasta and shrimp to the sauce. Toss to coat.

    • Add a splash of pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.

    • Simmer 1–2 minutes until everything is heated through.

  5. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice.

    • Serve hot!

🍷 Serving Tip

Pairs beautifully with garlic bread and a crisp white wine (like Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay).
