Soft Garlic Breadsticks (Makes ~12)
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2½–3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
Garlic Topping
- 3 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder (or 2 cloves minced garlic)
- ½ tsp salt
- Optional: grated Parmesan, Italian seasoning, parsley
Instructions
- Activate yeast: Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add olive oil, salt, and 2½ cups flour. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead 5–7 minutes (by hand or mixer) until smooth and soft.
- Cover and let rise 1 hour, until doubled.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
- Roll dough into a rectangle, cut into sticks, or roll into ropes.
- Place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake 12–15 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Brush with garlic butter and sprinkle toppings.
- Serve warm.
Variations
- Cheesy: Add mozzarella on top before baking.
- Cinnamon sugar: Skip garlic, brush with butter + cinnamon sugar.
- Stuffed: Wrap dough around cheese sticks before baking.
