Here’s a classic Beef Tips recipe 🥩—tender, flavorful beef in a rich gravy, perfect over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes:


Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 500 g (1 lb) beef sirloin or stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or olive)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the beef

  1. Toss beef pieces in flour until lightly coated. This helps thicken the gravy.

2. Brown the beef

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet or sauté pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Brown beef on all sides for 3–4 minutes. Remove and set aside.

3. Sauté vegetables

  1. In the same pan, add onion and garlic. Sauté 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

4. Make the gravy

  1. Return beef to the pan.
  2. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  3. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Cover and cook 20–30 minutes, until beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.

5. Serve

  • Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles. Garnish with parsley if desired.

💡 Tips

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of red wine or a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the gravy.
  • You can also add mushrooms, bell peppers, or carrots to make it more hearty.
  • Leftovers reheat well and thicken further—perfect for meal prep.
