Baked sausage

Posted on November 10, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple and flavorful Baked Sausage recipe — perfect for an easy dinner, meal prep, or adding to pasta, sandwiches, or breakfast plates.

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 to 1½ lbs (450–700 g) sausage links — Italian, bratwurst, kielbasa, or your favorite kind
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for browning)
  • 1 onion, sliced (optional)
  • 1–2 bell peppers, sliced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs (optional: thyme, rosemary, or parsley)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Set oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare sausage

  • Place sausages on the prepared baking sheet.
  • (Optional) Add sliced onions and peppers around them for extra flavor.
  • Drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and herbs if desired.

3. Bake

  • Bake 20–25 minutes, turning sausages halfway through, until browned and cooked through.
  • Internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for pork or beef sausage, 165°F (74°C) for chicken or turkey sausage.

4. Optional finishing touch

  • For crispier sausage, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
  • For a one-pan meal, toss in small potatoes or chunks of zucchini before baking.

5. Serve

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, roasted vegetables, or on a bun with mustard or sautéed onions.

💡 Tips:

  • Use a baking rack on top of your sheet pan to let fat drip away and get an even crisp.
  • If using raw sausage coils or links, prick them once or twice to prevent bursting.
  • Leftovers reheat beautifully in an air fryer or skillet for a few minutes.

Would you like me to give a baked sausage and peppers casserole version — more of a full meal in one dish?
