baked ham and cheese croissants

Posted on November 6, 2025 by Admin

Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants are the perfect combination of buttery, flaky, and savory goodness! 🥐🧀🍖 They’re simple to make but feel like a treat, and they’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even as a snack. Here’s a recipe to create these delicious little bites!

🥐 Baked Ham and Cheese Croissants

Ingredients (makes 8 croissants)

  • 8 croissants (store-bought, preferably the buttery, flaky kind)
  • 8 slices deli ham (thinly sliced)
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (or cheddar, provolone, or Gruyère)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (or fresh if you have it)
  • ½ tsp onion powder (optional)
  • Dijon mustard or mayonnaise (optional, for spreading inside)

Instructions

1. Preheat and prepare:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

2. Assemble the croissants:

  • Slice each croissant in half horizontally (like a sandwich bun).
  • If you like, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard or mayonnaise on the inside of each croissant for extra flavor.
  • On the bottom half of each croissant, layer 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese.
  • Place the top half of the croissant back on and press gently to secure.

3. Brush with butter and season:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder (if using), and dried parsley.
  • Brush this buttery mixture generously over the top of each assembled croissant. This gives them a beautiful golden, flavorful finish when baked!

4. Bake:

  • Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese has melted. The tops should be slightly crispy.

5. Serve:

  • Let the croissants cool for a minute or two, then serve warm. You can cut them in half or serve them whole.
  • Optionally, garnish with a little extra parsley or paprika for color.

Serving Suggestions

  • These croissants are great on their own, but you can serve them with a side of salad, chips, or a soup for a complete meal.
  • For a sweet-and-savory combo, serve with a fruit salad or a drizzle of honey on the side.

Tips & Variations

  • Make it a Croissant Sandwich: Add a bit of tomato or pickles inside for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Use different cheese: You can swap the Swiss for cheddar, provolone, or even brie for a richer flavor.
  • Add an egg: For a twist, scramble an egg and add it inside with the ham and cheese for a breakfast version.

This recipe is quick, easy, and great for meal prep. You can make them ahead and bake them later, or even freeze them for a quick snack. Let me know if you want ideas for a dessert or a different side dish to go with them!
