Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)

Instructions

  1. Prep oven:
    Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment.
  2. Mix wet ingredients:
    Whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
    Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Mix dry ingredients:
    In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine:
    Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
    Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Bake:
    Spread dough evenly in the pan.
    Bake 22–28 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and center is just set.
  6. Cool & slice:
    Let cool completely for clean cuts—or slightly warm for gooey bars.

Tips for Perfect Bars

  • For extra gooey bars, underbake by 2 minutes.
  • Add nuts, white chocolate chips, or caramel bits if you like.
  • Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty finish.
