Bacon-Wrapped Smokies

Ingredients (makes ~24)

  • 24 cocktail sausages (smokies)
  • 12 slices bacon (cut in half)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (optional, for a sweet glaze)
  • 1 tsp black pepper (optional)
  • Toothpicks

Instructions

1. Preheat oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly grease or use a wire rack.

2. Wrap the smokies

  • Cut bacon slices in half.
  • Wrap each smokie with a half-slice of bacon, securing with a toothpick.

3. Add sugar (optional)

  • Roll or sprinkle each wrapped smokie with brown sugar for a sweet glaze.
  • Lightly season with black pepper if desired.

4. Bake

  • Place on prepared baking sheet or wire rack.
  • Bake 20–25 minutes, turning once halfway through, until bacon is crispy and caramelized.

5. Serve

  • Remove toothpicks and serve warm.
  • Optional: serve with mustard, BBQ sauce, or a sweet chili dipping sauce.

Tips & Variations

  • Spicy: Sprinkle with cayenne or brush with hot sauce before baking.
