Here’s a from-scratch Apple Crumble Pie — flaky crust, juicy apples, buttery crunch on top.


Apple Crumble Pie

Ingredients

Pie Filling

  • 6–7 cups apples, peeled & sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour or cornstarch
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch of salt

Crumble Topping

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • ½ cup rolled oats (optional but great)

Crust

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Toss apples with all filling ingredients until well coated.
  3. Pour filling into pie crust, mound slightly.
  4. Mix crumble ingredients until coarse and crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle crumble evenly over apples.
  6. Place pie on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake 45–55 minutes, until topping is golden and filling is bubbly.
  8. Cool at least 2 hours before slicing (important!).

Pro Tips

  • Mix apple varieties for best flavor.
  • If topping browns too fast, tent loosely with foil.
  • Add a splash of bourbon or apple cider for depth.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream (non-negotiable 🍨).
