Ambrosia salad

Here’s a classic Ambrosia Salad recipe—a sweet, creamy fruit salad that’s a staple at holiday tables and potlucks.


Ambrosia Salad

Ingredients (serves 6–8):

  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 cup canned pineapple tidbits, drained
  • 1 cup canned mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 cup seedless grapes, halved
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries, halved (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional, pecans or walnuts)

Instructions:

  1. Mix the dressing:
    • In a large bowl, combine sour cream (or yogurt) and sweetened condensed milk if using. Stir until smooth.
  2. Combine fruits and mix:
    • Add pineapple, oranges, grapes, cherries, coconut, marshmallows, and nuts to the bowl.
    • Gently fold until all ingredients are coated with the creamy dressing.
  3. Chill:
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours before serving. This lets flavors meld.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve cold in a large bowl or individual cups.

💡 Tips:

  • For a lighter version, use all yogurt instead of sour cream and omit condensed milk.
  • Fresh fruit can be used instead of canned, just drain or pat dry well.
  • Ambrosia can be made a day ahead—just stir gently before serving.
