Mediterranean olive oil dip

Posted on December 17, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple and flavorful Mediterranean-style olive oil dip that works perfectly with bread, veggies, or grilled meats. It’s vibrant, easy to make, and customizable.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1–2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chopped fresh herbs (parsley, basil, or mint)
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan or crumbled feta

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base
    • Pour olive oil into a small bowl or shallow dish.
    • Add minced garlic and stir gently.
  2. Add Herbs & Flavorings
    • Mix in dried oregano, thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using).
    • Add a splash of balsamic vinegar or lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
  3. Season
    • Add salt and pepper to taste.
    • Stir gently to combine all flavors.
  4. Optional Garnish
    • Top with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of cheese for extra flavor.
  5. Serve
    • Serve with warm crusty bread, pita, or fresh veggies.
    • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes to allow flavors to meld—olive oil dips taste even better after resting.

Tips

  • Infuse olive oil: For a stronger flavor, gently warm the olive oil with garlic and herbs for a few minutes, then cool before serving.
  • Make ahead: Can be prepared a few hours in advance; store covered at room temperature.
  • Customize: Add chopped sun-dried tomatoes, olives, or a touch of honey for a unique twist.

If you want, I can give a “Kalamata Olive & Lemon” version that’s extra tangy and very authentic Mediterranean. It’s like a restaurant-quality dip. Do you want me to provide that?
