Ingredients
- 1½ lb ground turkey (93% lean is ideal)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or oats)
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Topping
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 1–2 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C.
- Sauté onion in olive oil for 3–4 minutes until soft; add garlic for 30 seconds. Let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, mix milk and breadcrumbs. Add egg, ketchup, Worcestershire, seasonings, and onion mixture.
- Gently fold in ground turkey (don’t overmix).
- Shape into a loaf on a lined baking sheet or place in a loaf pan.
- Mix topping ingredients and spread over loaf.
- Bake 50–60 minutes, until internal temp hits 165°F / 74°C.
- Rest 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips for Extra Moisture
- Use 93% lean, not extra-lean.
- Add ¼ cup grated zucchini or carrot.
