Here’s an easy and delicious Slow Cooker Cabbage recipe — tender, flavorful, and perfect as a side dish or a base for a comforting meal.


🥬 Slow Cooker Cabbage

Ingredients (serves 4–6)

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped into wedges or roughly chopped
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2–3 tbsp butter or olive oil
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1–2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika or smoked paprika (optional)
  • Optional additions:
    • Carrots, sliced
    • Potatoes, cubed
    • Cooked bacon bits or ham for extra flavor

Instructions

1. Prep the cabbage

  • Remove outer leaves and core the cabbage.
  • Chop into wedges or large chunks depending on preference.

2. Layer ingredients in the slow cooker

  1. Place sliced onion and garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Add cabbage on top.
  3. Dot with butter or drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Pour broth over the cabbage.
  5. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and optional paprika.

3. Cook

  • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until cabbage is tender.

4. Optional finishing touches

  • Stir in cooked bacon, ham, or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • For a tangy touch, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice before serving.
