Here’s a fun, comforting, breakfast-meets-snack creation: Sausage Dipped Pancakes Delight. Think of it as a mash-up of sausage links and pancake batter — like homemade pancake-wrapped sausage sticks, but even better.
🥞🌭 Sausage Dipped Pancakes Delight
Ingredients (Makes 8–10)
- 8–10 fully cooked breakfast sausage links
- 1 cup pancake mix (or homemade batter—see below)
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1–2 tbsp melted butter
- 1–2 tsp vanilla (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
- Oil or butter for the pan
Optional add-ins/dips:
- Maple syrup
- Honey butter
- Cinnamon sugar
- Powdered sugar
- Fruit syrup
Instructions
1. Warm the sausages
If using fully cooked links, warm them in a skillet or microwave so they aren’t cold when dipping.
If using raw sausage links, cook them fully first and let cool slightly.
2. Prepare the pancake batter
In a bowl, whisk together:
- Pancake mix
- Milk
- Egg
- Melted butter
- Optional vanilla + sugar
The batter should be slightly thick so it clings to the sausage.
(If you want homemade batter: 1 cup flour + 2 tsp baking powder + 1 tbsp sugar + pinch salt + ¾ cup milk + 1 egg + 1 tbsp melted butter.)
3. Dip the sausages
Stick each sausage with a skewer or small wooden stick optional but helpful.
Dip each sausage into the batter, coating completely.
Let excess drip slightly.
4. Cook
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium with a little butter or oil.
Place dipped sausages onto the pan and cook:
- 2–3 minutes per side
- Rotate so all sides become golden and cooked through.
You can also deep-fry at 350°F for 2–3 minutes if you want a true “fair-food” vibe.
5. Serve
Serve warm with:
- Warm maple syrup for dipping
- A drizzle of honey butter
- A dusting of powdered sugar
They’re great on their own or as part of a big breakfast platter.
🔄 Variations
- Blueberry joy: Add blueberries to the batter.
- Cinnamon swirl: Mix a cinnamon-brown sugar swirl into the batter.
- Savory twist: Skip sugar and add shredded cheddar to the batter.
- Spicy: Use spicy sausage and add a pinch of cayenne to the batter.
