Here’s a complete meal recipe for Baked Sesame Lime Salmon with Roasted Sweet Potatoes — a beautiful balance of citrus, umami, and natural sweetness.

🐟 Baked Sesame Lime Salmon with Roasted Sweet Potatoes

🍠 Ingredients

For the Roasted Sweet Potatoes

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed (about 1-inch pieces)

  • 1½ tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika or chili powder (optional, for a smoky touch)

For the Salmon

  • 2–4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 tbsp lime juice (about 1 lime)

  • 1 tsp lime zest

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional but great for flavor)

  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (plus more for garnish)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • (Optional garnish) Chopped green onions or fresh cilantro

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat oven

Preheat to 425°F (220°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or foil.

2. Roast the sweet potatoes

  1. Toss sweet potato cubes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  2. Spread on one baking sheet in a single layer.

  3. Roast for 25–30 minutes, tossing halfway through, until golden and tender.

3. Prepare the salmon marinade

While potatoes roast, whisk together in a small bowl:

  • Soy sauce

  • Sesame oil

  • Lime juice & zest

  • Honey (or maple syrup)

  • Garlic

  • Ginger

  • A pinch of salt and pepper

4. Bake the salmon

  1. Place salmon fillets skin-side down on the second baking sheet.

  2. Spoon or brush the sesame-lime mixture evenly over each fillet.

  3. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes, depending on thickness, until salmon flakes easily with a fork.

5. Assemble & serve

  • Serve salmon over roasted sweet potatoes.

  • Drizzle any extra sauce from the pan over the top.

  • Garnish with green onions, cilantro, or an extra squeeze of lime juice for brightness.

🌿 Optional Add-ons

  • Serve with steamed broccoli, snap peas, or a side salad.

  • For a bowl-style meal, add rice or quinoa underneath.

  • Add a sprinkle of crushed chili flakes if you like heat!
