Here’s a classic Butter Fudge recipe β€” rich, creamy, and melt-in-your-mouth sweet! Perfect for holidays, gifts, or anytime you want a little indulgence. 🍬🧈

🍬 Classic Butter Fudge

Makes: ~36 small pieces
Prep & Cook Time: 25–30 minutes + cooling

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Optional for flavor variations:

  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder for chocolate fudge

Instructions

1. Prepare pan

  • Line an 8Γ—8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease lightly.

2. Cook the fudge

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and salt.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, continue to cook 5–7 minutes without stirring, or until mixture reaches 234–240Β°F (soft-ball stage) if using a candy thermometer.

3. Beat the fudge

  1. Remove from heat and let stand 2–3 minutes.
  2. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Beat the mixture vigorously with a wooden spoon until thickened and creamy (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. If adding nuts or cocoa, fold in now.

4. Set the fudge

  1. Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  2. Let cool completely at room temperature (1–2 hours) or refrigerate to speed up setting.
  3. Cut into squares and enjoy!

⭐ Tips for Perfect Butter Fudge

  • Constant stirring prevents burning and grainy texture.
  • Use a candy thermometer for more precise results.
  • For extra creamy fudge, beat after removing from heat β€” this is key for that soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  • Add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness if desired.
