Here’s a recipe for a Moist Orange Cake—soft, fragrant, and bursting with fresh citrus flavor. Perfect for any occasion or a simple afternoon treat.

🍊 Moist Orange Cake

Serves: 8
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30–35 minutes

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • Zest of 2 oranges
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ½ cup buttermilk or milk

Glaze (optional):

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp fresh orange juice

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour an 8-inch round or 9×5-inch loaf pan.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Cream Butter and Sugar:

  • In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in orange zest.

4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

  • Alternately add dry ingredients and orange juice + buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  • Mix until just combined—don’t overmix.

5. Bake:

  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes (for round pan) or 40–45 minutes (for loaf pan), until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Cool and Glaze:

  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • For extra moisture and flavor, whisk powdered sugar with orange juice and drizzle over the warm cake.

Tips & Variations:

  • Extra moist: Brush the baked cake with a little warm orange juice before glazing.
  • Flavor boost: Add ½ tsp vanilla extract or ¼ tsp almond extract.
  • Zesty topping: Sprinkle additional orange zest over the glaze for a fresh look.
  • Layered cake: Double the recipe for a two-layer cake with orange cream cheese frosting.

This Moist Orange Cake is soft, citrusy, and incredibly flavorful—perfect with a cup of tea or coffee.

If you want, I can also give a simple one-bowl orange cake recipe that’s even quicker but just as moist. Do you want me to do that?
